A growing number of people are looking for an Invisalign dentist in London as a direct result of an explosion in media interest. More and more people are talking about the revolutionary new treatment offered by Invisalign dentists, and with London now one of the leading centres for dentistry in Europe, people are starting to take the new opportunities very seriously. But there's a problem.
Because the media are making grand claims about what Invisalign can achieve, which is certainly whetting people's appetite and getting them interested in the idea. But once people start to look into it, and find out what an Invisalign orthodontist in London is really offering, a good many people are walking away. Why is this?
Simply put, most people seem to believe that if a thing seems too good to be true, it usually is. Unfortunately in many cases this belief holds true, but is it fair to judge Invisalign using this same cynical assertion? Is the treatment offered by an Invisalign dentist in London really too good to be true? Are there really no drawbacks, and can they really achieve so much without the problems experienced in the past?
For anyone in the past who felt they needed teeth alignment the only real option was to wear a brace. These metal and wire braces did manage to achieve some excellent results, and indeed still do. But no one would deny that they came at a price. Often they were uncomfortable, and many people suffered ulcers and sores as a result of wires and metal sticking into their gums. The braces couldn't easily be removed which meant that certain foods were off the menu and oral hygiene wasn't brilliant.
Of course one of the main problems was the appearance of metal braces. They were very obvious, and there was no way of hiding therm. Many people also found that they seriously affected the way they spoke, sometimes making it harder to be understood on the phone. However, the period of time they needed to be worn, roughly two to three years, was a price worth paying in the eyes of many people, for the results offered by the treatment.
But Invisalign have recently changed all that, offering an alternative to the metal brace. Commonly being referred to as either invisible braces or clear braces they are making a range of claims which really do seem to be too good to be true. For example, if you visit an Invisalign dentist in London they'll tell you that their braces are virtually undetectable, that almost no one will know you're even wearing a brace, that they don't impact on speech, that they can easily be removed at any time, enabling you to eat what you want, brush and floss your teeth effectively, and even that the teeth alignment process can be halved through wearing their Invisalign clear braces.
They also claim that the outcome is known with a much higher degree of accuracy than with the metal braces, and that you can even see a computer representation of how your teeth will look at the end of the process. But are all these claims true? In fact, they are, but what you don't always hear is the downside. There are two problems with Invisalign invisible braces, and it's worth being aware of these.
Firstly, because you can remove the braces easily any time you want, you may be tempted to leave them out for longer than recommended. If you do this, the treatment will not work. You need a good deal of self discipline - something not all teenagers have! Secondly, you will need to keep going back to your Invisalign dentist in London every two weeks throughout the entire treatment which could last between a year and 18 months. Although these two issues may not be a disaster for everyone, there are people who feel that these could be a problem, and therefore don't feel that clear braces are for them.
